Consider this your invitation to explore the ancient wisdom of yoga as a path to a more balanced and aligned way of living.
As a Professor of Anthropology and yoga educator for more than 20 years, Rachel brings acute knowledge of human anatomy and scholarly study of foundational yogic texts. This combination creates a practice grounded in ancient wisdom where students can reconnect with their bodies, their breath, and themselves.
Building upon the rich foundation of yoga I offer my students tangible tools for living in a modern world with purpose and vitality.

Why I Practice
Studying yoga is like being handed an owner’s manual for how to be human. It offers us a set of timeless principles that reaffirm the sacred union between you and the divine, your divine self. Yoga is an invitation to return to your truest version of yourself.
Yes, yoga is a workout, but it is so much more than that. It is not just “gymnastics on a rubber mat.” Our asana practice, the physical postures, are a doorway, not the whole path. Each time we step onto the mat, we are invited to engage in self-inquiry (Svadhyaya). The lessons we encounter there are lightly veiled metaphors for every other aspect of our lives. As we begin to unlock our potential through movement and breath, the patterns that keep us stuck are revealed. And then, we are reminded: we get to choose again.
Yoga is ancient wisdom. "It is as old as the sun" (Bhagavad Gita). Each moment, each movement, each breath joins us together to everyone who has practiced before before us and those who will follow. You are a part of something eternal and profoundly meaningful. You have always had a place in this lineage. All you need to do is accept the invitation.
